24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS Sensor & BIONZ X Processor
Equipped with a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor, the a6100 produces stunningly detailed images with minimal noise and a broad ISO range of 100-32000, expandable up to 51200 for low-light conditions. Its advanced design incorporates thin copper wiring, optimized circuitry, and an enhanced front-end LSI to improve light-gathering capabilities, reduce noise, and accelerate data readout—particularly beneficial for video recording. Paired with the BIONZ X processor, the camera achieves an impressive continuous shooting speed of 11 fps with autofocus and auto exposure, while supporting 14-bit RAW output for a rich tonal range and color depth.
UHD 4K Video Recording in XAVC S Format
The a6100 records UHD 4K video at up to 30 fps, utilizing the full width of the sensor with 8-bit 4:2:0 color sampling and a 100Mbps XAVC S codec. Oversampled 4K recording leverages a 6K capture area within the Super 35 frame, resulting in enhanced detail and reduced moiré or aliasing. Additionally, Full HD 1080p recording is available at up to 120 fps, supporting 4x and 5x slow-motion playback in 30p or 24p. Uncompressed HDMI output allows for external 4K recording with 4:2:2 sampling, and 8MP stills can be extracted from 4K video playback.
4D FOCUS: Advanced Autofocus System
With 425 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points covering nearly the entire frame, the a6100's 4D FOCUS system ensures rapid and precise subject tracking in as little as 0.02 seconds. Key features include:
- Real-time Eye AF for sharp, accurate focus on human and animal subjects in both stills and video.
- Lock-on AF, which maintains focus on moving subjects using an adjustable tracking frame.
