Product Description
All-in-One Zoom for APS-C Mirrorless Cameras
The Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary Lens is an exceptionally versatile all-in-one zoom designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Covering everything from wide-angle to super-telephoto in a single portable lens, it offers an impressive 18.8x zoom range along with fast autofocus, powerful optical stabilization, and versatile close-up capabilities. With its broad focal-length range and travel-friendly design, it is well suited for photographers who want one lens capable of handling a wide variety of subjects and shooting conditions.
Wide-Angle to Super-Telephoto Coverage
The 16-300mm focal-length range provides a 24-450mm equivalent range on APS-C cameras, giving you the flexibility to move from expansive compositions to highly detailed distant subjects without changing lenses.
At 16mm, the wide-angle perspective is ideal for landscapes, architecture, interiors, and travel photography. Moving through the middle of the range, the lens is well suited for portraits, street scenes, and everyday subjects, while the 300mm telephoto end provides the reach needed for wildlife, sports, action, and other distant subjects.
Versatile Close-Up Performance
Despite its extensive zoom range, the lens also offers impressive macro capabilities. At 70mm, it achieves a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, allowing you to capture detailed close-up images with greater flexibility. Magnification reaches 1:3 at the wide-angle end and 1:4 at the telephoto end, making the lens useful for a variety of close-up subjects.
Fast and Responsive Autofocus
The HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing system provides fast and accurate autofocus by quickly moving the focusing group. This enables responsive focus switching and helps the lens track fast-moving subjects effectively, making it suitable for both still photography and dynamic shooting situations.
Powerful Optical Stabilization
The built-in optical stabilization system helps produce sharper, more stable images when shooting handheld. Using Sigma's OS2 stabilization algorithm, the same technology used in Sigma's larger super-telephoto lenses, the system provides up to 6 stops of stabilization at the 16mm position and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end.
This additional stability is particularly useful when shooting in low-light conditions or at longer focal lengths, helping minimize camera shake and motion blur without requiring a tripod.
High-Quality Optical Design
The lens incorporates low-dispersion glass elements and four aspherical elements to help control optical aberrations while maintaining high sharpness, clarity, and accurate color reproduction throughout the zoom and focus ranges.
Its optical design has also been carefully developed and tested to resist flare and minimize ghosting across a variety of lighting conditions. Focus breathing is well controlled as well, making the lens a strong option for video applications and photographers working with multi-shot composite techniques.
Compact and Travel-Friendly Design
Despite its extensive 16-300mm range, the lens maintains a relatively compact and lightweight profile, measuring approximately 4.8" in length and weighing around 1.4 lb. This makes it an excellent travel companion for photographers who want broad focal-length coverage without carrying multiple lenses.
Weather-Resistant Construction
Dust- and splash-resistant sealing helps provide additional reliability when shooting in challenging weather conditions. The front element features a water- and oil-repellent coating that helps protect the glass and makes it easier to clean during everyday use.
Convenient Zoom Lock
A zoom lock switch positioned at the wide end helps prevent the lens from extending while it is being stored or transported, adding convenience when carrying the lens between locations.
