This ""D-series"" lens is a versatile vintage zoom, providing the camera with distance information for more accurate flash metering and exposure. The lens body is exceptionally well-preserved, showing little to no signs of wear on the barrel or the rubberized grip. While the external glass elements and aperture blades are in excellent condition, please note that the internal glass elements contain a moderate amount of dust. Depending on lighting conditions and aperture settings, this may cause some haziness or softness in the images. Despite this, the lens remains fully functional and is a great candidate for those seeking a classic ""film look"" or a project lens for professional cleaning.

The Nikon AF NIKKOR 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 D is a versatile "all-in-one" zoom lens from the 1990s, designed to cover the most essential focal lengths for general-purpose photography. This "D-type" version was a significant update over the original, as it includes a micro-chip that transmits distance information to the camera body, enhancing the accuracy of 3D Matrix Metering and flash calculations. Its "push-pull" design is a classic ergonomic feature of that era, where a single large ring is pushed forward or pulled back to change the focal length, while rotating the same ring adjusts the focus.

Technically, the lens features an internal construction of 13 elements in 10 groups and is built with a rugged, professional feel despite its consumer-oriented focal range. The "D" series version is often preferred by collectors and users because it features a more refined optical formula than the earlier non-D versions. It also includes a dedicated "Macro" mode at the 105mm end, which is engaged by a small switch on the barrel, allowing for significantly closer focusing on small subjects.
