Its optical construction consists of seven elements arranged in seven groups, delivering a 74-degree angle of view on 35mm film and full-frame formats. The aperture range extends from f/2.8 to f/22, providing adjustable exposure control through the lens's manual aperture ring. A minimum focusing distance of approximately 11.8 inches (0.3 meters) allows the lens to focus on subjects at relatively close distances.
