The Minolta Dynax 7000i (Maxxum 7000i) is a 35mm SLR featuring a second-generation autofocus system with three sensors for wide-area coverage and predictive tracking of moving subjects. It utilizes a vertical-travel electronic focal-plane shutter with speeds from 30 seconds to 1/4000, 1/125 flash sync, and a center-weighted or spot metering system. The body includes an integrated motor drive for 3 fps continuous shooting, automatic DX-code ISO sensing (25-5000), and a Creative Expansion Card slot for adding specialized software functions.

Constructed with a durable plastic shell over a metal chassis, the 7000i introduced an ergonomic slanted top-deck LCD and dual-button control interface for exposure adjustments. It features a bright acute-matte viewfinder with 94% coverage and an AF illuminator for focusing in total darkness. The camera operates on a single 2CP5 lithium battery and is fully compatible with the extensive Minolta A-mount ecosystem, supporting both original AF and modern Sony A-mount lenses.

The Minolta AF 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 is a versatile standard zoom lens featuring a "macro" mode at the 28mm setting for close-up photography.
