Bringing the art of monochrome imaging to the acclaimed all-in-one Q3 platform, the Leica Q3 Monochrom is a multimedia powerhouse that blends creative focus with technical precision. Featuring a dedicated black-and-white 60MP full-frame sensor and a refreshed minimalist design, it retains all the hallmark features of the Q3 lineup—an integrated 28mm f/1.7 Summilux lens, 8K video recording, a high-resolution EVF and tilting touchscreen, and an intuitive, streamlined interface—now optimized for the timeless elegance of monochrome photography.
Full-Frame Monochrome Sensor and Maestro IV Processor
60MP BSI CMOS Monochrome Sensor
Borrowed from the M11 Monochrom, the Q3 Monochrom’s 60MP full-frame CMOS sensor is tailored exclusively for black-and-white imaging. With the color filter array removed, it records pure luminance data, delivering unmatched tonal depth, clarity, and detail. The absence of color filtration also increases sensitivity, allowing a broader ISO range of 100–200,000 and cleaner low-light performance.
The backside-illuminated (BSI) architecture improves noise control and readout speed, benefiting both stills and video. The high resolution provides incredible flexibility for landscapes, architecture, and fine-art work, while also enabling digital zoom modes that simulate classic focal lengths:

Triple Resolution Technology
Like the M11 and Q3, the sensor supports Triple Resolution Technology, allowing capture at 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP without cropping the sensor area. Each option produces 14-bit DNG files with wide dynamic range and exceptional tonal smoothness.
Maestro IV Processor
Powered by the Maestro IV image processor with 8GB of buffer memory, the Q3 Monochrom delivers fast performance across photo and video tasks. It supports 15 fps continuous shooting, extended ISO flexibility, and efficient Triple Resolution processing. The improved engine ensures smooth operation across the EVF, LCD, and video capture modes.
Leica Content Credentials & Authenticity Verification
As part of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI)—a collaboration between Adobe, The New York Times, and Leica—the Q3 Monochrom includes Leica Content Credentials. A secure chip encrypts image metadata at capture, allowing provenance verification through compatible tools like Adobe Photoshop. This ensures creators receive proper attribution while giving viewers confidence in the authenticity of the images.

Premium Summilux Optics
Carried over from previous Q models, the Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens provides a fast, versatile wide-angle perspective with outstanding optical performance. Engineered for the Q system, it delivers exceptional sharpness, minimal distortion, and pleasing bokeh—all in a compact, discreet housing.
The lens includes manual focus and aperture controls, along with a dedicated macro mode for shooting as close as 6.7". Integrated optical image stabilization ensures crisp handheld shots in any lighting.
Contrast-Detection Autofocus
Due to its monochrome sensor, the Q3 Monochrom uses a contrast-detection AF system rather than phase detection. Despite this, focusing remains fast, accurate, and supports Eye Detection AF for reliably sharp portraits.
8K Black & White Video and ProRes Recording
Designed for hybrid creators, the Q3 Monochrom excels in video as much as stills:

New User Interface & Enhanced Connectivity
The Q3 Monochrom introduces a redesigned interface with cleaner icons (borrowed from the SL3), faster navigation, and a customizable Control Center for quick access to essential functions.
Wireless performance is significantly improved with Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz and Bluetooth 5.0, offering transfer speeds up to 10x faster than before—up to 35MB/s, or roughly 2 seconds per full-resolution DNG using the updated Leica FOTOS app, which also supports GPS tagging via smartphone data.
