Leica M EV1: The First M-Series with a Built-In EVF

Marking a major milestone for Leica, the M EV1 is the first M-System camera to feature an integrated electronic viewfinder, replacing the traditional optical rangefinder. This evolution enhances usability with ultra-wide, telephoto, and fast lenses—while retaining the classic slim profile, M lens mount, and the proven imaging excellence of the M11 series.

A New Way to See and Focus

5.76m-Dot OLED Electronic Viewfinder

Replacing the optical rangefinder, the M EV1 introduces Leica’s first built-in EVF in an M camera.

• Features a 5.76m-dot OLED panel with 0.76x magnification, diopter adjustment, and 100% frame coverage.

• Displays exactly what the sensor captures, ensuring precise framing and focus—even with fast Summilux or Noctilux lenses and shallow depth of field.

• Enables comfortable use of ultra-wide, telephoto, macro, and adapted lenses—previously limited by rangefinder constraints.

• Supports digital zoom previews at 1.3x or 1.8x directly in the viewfinder.

Focus Assist Tools & FN Button

The EVF also unlocks modern focusing aids for sharper results:

• Focus Peaking highlights in-focus edges with colored outlines.

• Focus Aid / Magnification provides two zoom levels for pinpoint focus accuracy, manually triggered or set to auto-activate when adjusting the lens focus ring.

• The classic frame selector lever now functions as an FN button, allowing quick toggling of focus aids or digital zoom with short or long presses.

• Real-time exposure previews, visible shooting data, and optional overlays (grid, horizon level) further enhance compositional control.

Carried over from the M11 series, the 60MP BSI CMOS sensor delivers exceptional detail, low noise, and fast readout.
