Product Description
The Leica IIIc is a classic 35mm screw-mount rangefinder camera that represents one of the most important evolutionary steps in Leica’s pre-M system design. Introduced in the 1940s, it refined the earlier Leica III series with a stronger die-cast body construction and improved internal mechanics, making it more robust and consistent in operation. The chrome finish version has become especially recognizable, with its clean industrial look and compact form factor that helped define the “Barnack Leica” era of photography.
Fully mechanical in operation, the IIIc requires no batteries and delivers a pure manual shooting experience with full control over focus, shutter speed, and exposure. It uses the Leica screw mount (LTM/M39), giving access to a wide range of vintage lenses known for their character and optical quality. With shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/1000 plus bulb mode, it remains versatile enough for both everyday shooting and longer exposures when needed. Its coupled rangefinder system is separate from the viewfinder, encouraging a slower, more deliberate shooting style that many film photographers still appreciate today.
