Insta360 Luna Ultra Overview
The Insta360 Luna Ultra is an AI-powered gimbal camera designed for creators who want advanced imaging, stabilization, and intelligent subject tracking in a single compact system. Leica-engineered optics and dual sensors enable video recording up to 8K30, while the combination of a 1" CMOS sensor and a 1/1.3" CMOS sensor provides impressive image quality across a variety of shooting conditions. A triple AI processing system enhances low-light performance and overall responsiveness, while the detachable 2" OLED touchscreen can operate as a wireless remote for convenient control from a distance. The Creator Bundle adds a battery handle, Mic Pro wireless transmitter, and wide-angle lens for a more complete content-creation setup.
Triple AI Processing
The Luna Ultra features three dedicated AI processing chips. Two are focused on imaging to enhance low-light performance, reduce noise, and improve image quality, while the third handles the camera's other processing demands for smooth and responsive operation.
High-Resolution Imaging
Dual Leica-engineered lenses and advanced imaging processors support up to 8K30 Dolby Vision video, 4K120 slow-motion recording, and 4K60 PureVideo. The professional telephoto lens provides up to 12x zoom, including up to 6x lossless zoom for detailed close-up shots.
Enhanced Low-Light Performance
When combined with the triple AI processor system, PureVideo mode enables recording up to 4K60 in challenging lighting conditions. Advanced processing helps reduce noise while improving brightness, detail, and overall image clarity.
Natural Portraits
Capture 4K60 portrait video and 4K Live Frame photos with a single camera. Beauty Mode provides additional image enhancement by refining skin texture and brightening complexions for polished-looking portraits.
Detachable 2" OLED Touchscreen
The 2" OLED touchscreen can be detached from the camera and used as a wireless remote for viewing and control from up to 65' away. The detachable unit also features a built-in wireless microphone for capturing clear dialogue while shooting remotely.
High-Resolution Panoramic Photography
The Luna Ultra captures still images at up to 37MP, while its panoramic shooting mode expands resolution up to 200MP. This makes it possible to preserve fine details across expansive landscapes and scenic environments.
Deep Track 5.0 AI Tracking
Deep Track 5.0 provides intelligent subject tracking to help keep your subjects centered and in focus. Tracking can be activated with the joystick or by selecting a subject directly on the touchscreen.
Active Zoom tracking continues to follow the action even when a subject temporarily leaves the frame, while Group Tracking keeps multiple people within the composition. Smart Framing uses a 3x3 grid based on golden-ratio positioning, allowing you to select a preferred framing point and maintain consistent composition throughout your recording.
Advanced Audio Connectivity
A four-microphone array captures clear, detailed audio, with three microphones built into the camera and another integrated into the detachable handle. A built-in wind guard helps minimize unwanted wind noise, while the included Mic Pro wireless transmitter can connect via Bluetooth for additional recording flexibility.
Expandable Wide-Angle Coverage
The included wide-angle lens attaches magnetically to the Luna Ultra, expanding the field of view to 108°. This provides a broader perspective for landscapes, interiors, group shots, and immersive content.
Professional Color Profiles
Built-in Leica color profiles and cinematic filters provide ready-to-use professional looks directly in-camera. For greater control during post-production, the Luna Ultra supports 10-bit I-Log recording and up to 14 stops of dynamic range for detailed highlights, shadows, and rich color information.
Insta360 App & QR Color Sharing
The Insta360 mobile app provides AI-powered editing tools and ready-made templates that help transform your footage into polished, shareable content. You can also share custom color profiles through QR codes, allowing other Luna Ultra users to scan and apply your preferred look directly to their cameras.
Extended Battery Life & Internal Storage
The Luna Ultra is equipped with a 1550mAh internal battery that provides up to four hours of recording time. USB-C fast charging can restore the battery to 80% in approximately 23 minutes. The included 1000mAh battery handle provides additional power for extended shooting sessions.
With 47GB of built-in storage, you can begin recording without immediately installing a memory card. Storage can also be expanded using the camera's microSD card slot.
