Fujifilm Announces Development of Its First Filmmaking Camera, the "FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA"
Delivering lifelike visuals with a large format sensor and ushering in a new era of cinematic excellence.
Tokyo, November 12, 2024 – FUJIFILM Corporation has revealed the development of its first dedicated filmmaking camera, the "FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA," slated for release in 2025. This camera will be equipped with the large-format "GFX 102MP CMOS II HS" sensor, approximately 1.7 times the size of a 35mm sensor, alongside the high-speed "X-Processor 5" image engine. This combination will enable filmmakers to capture rich, lifelike visuals while offering enhanced flexibility in post-production. Both technologies are also featured in the acclaimed "FUJIFILM GFX100 II," known for its impressive 102MP image quality.
The "GFX ETERNA" will make its debut as a reference exhibit at "InterBEE 2024," a major media event running from November 13–15, 2024.
Since its inception in 1934, Fujifilm has been a pioneer in Japan’s film industry, innovating with domestically produced positive film for movies and expanding its lineup to include the motion picture ETERNA series and advanced cinema lenses like the Premista and ZK Cabrio series. Designed to set a new standard in filmmaking, the "GFX ETERNA" integrates Fujifilm's renowned Fujinon lenses and the cutting-edge technology of the GFX system. Additionally, Fujifilm is developing a power zoom GF lens optimized for the G mount, offering a 32-90mm focal length, along with a G-to-PL mount adapter for use with professional cinema lenses. As demand for high-quality, fast, and cost-effective video production grows across various formats—from feature films to web content—the "GFX ETERNA" aims to meet these evolving needs. Fujifilm plans to conduct extensive field tests and expand the GFX system to ensure top-tier production quality and efficiency across diverse fields.
