Its powerful autofocus system and bright f/4.5 aperture provide exceptional reach and crisp subject separation, while the 600mm full-frame equivalent focal length delivers impressive magnification in a compact body designed for comfortable all-day handheld shooting.
Lightweight Lens Design
Weighing less than 3 lb and measuring just 9.4" long, the lens is optimized for handheld use everywhere from sports sidelines to rugged mountain trails. Its 5.5-stop optical image stabilization system helps compensate for camera shake for sharper handheld images. When additional support is needed, the tripod collar features an Arca-type compatible foot for quick attachment to tripods and monopods.
The 21-element, 14-group optical design combines four extra-low dispersion and two super extra-low dispersion elements to minimize optical aberrations and preserve sharp detail, accurate colors, and strong contrast. Super EBC coating further enhances image quality, while the rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh that benefits from the compression characteristic of a super-telephoto lens.
Fast Linear Motor Autofocus
The powerful Linear Motor autofocus system provides fast, precise, and near-silent focusing, with performance further enhanced by the subject-detection algorithms found in X-series cameras. Built-in focus presets provide additional control over autofocus, helping you quickly track and capture fast-moving subjects.
Teleconverter Compatibility
The lens is fully compatible with separately available 1.4x and 2x teleconverters, extending the focal length to 560mm and 800mm, respectively, while maintaining excellent image quality.
Weather-Resistant Construction
