The Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 is a compact manual-focus wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon FD-mount cameras. It features a 28mm focal length, f/2.8 maximum aperture, and a 75-degree diagonal angle of view. The lens uses a seven-element, seven-group optical design with a five-blade diaphragm and a minimum aperture of f/22. Its minimum focusing distance is approximately 0.3 meters (1 foot), allowing close focusing for a wide-angle lens. The lens includes a manual focus mechanism and Canon's FD mounting system for compatible vintage SLR cameras. Depending on the version, it uses either a 55mm filter thread for the earlier FD S.C. model or a 52mm filter thread for the New FD version. Canon's Camera Museum confirms the original FD 28mm f/2.8 S.C. was introduced in 1975 and later revised in 1977.
