Blackmagic Design PYXIS 6K Cinema Box Camera (Leica L)

The Blackmagic Design PYXIS 6K Cinema Box Camera brings the advanced digital film features of the Cinema Camera 6K into a compact box-style design with a native Leica L lens mount and customizable side plates. Its full-frame 6K sensor delivers vibrant colors, lifelike skin tones, and a wide 13-stop dynamic range across its expanded 36 x 24mm sensor. Record in both Blackmagic RAW and H.265 proxy formats, with the option to upload directly to the cloud or stream to social media via Ethernet or 4G/5G mobile networks. The PYXIS captures up to 6K Open Gate 3:2 video at 36 fps or 6K Anamorphic 6:5 video at 60 fps, with several other resolution options available.

Large-Format Digital Film Sensor
Featuring a 24 x 36mm full-frame sensor with a native 6048 x 4032 resolution, the PYXIS is three times larger than a Super35 sensor. This gives you the flexibility to shoot with a shallow depth of field or utilize anamorphic lenses without cropping, achieving a true cinematic effect. The camera's 13-stop dynamic range and dual-native ISO of up to 25,600 ensure clear, low-noise imagery in any lighting conditions. You can shoot up to 36 fps at full resolution or 120 fps in windowed mode.

Versatile Film Formats
The large sensor allows you to work in various formats and aspect ratios while maintaining high-quality imagery. You can shoot in Open Gate 3:2 for more framing options in post-production or in true 6:5 anamorphic without cropping for widescreen content. Using a Super35-sized window, you can create close-up shots while keeping flexibility in the frame.

Multiple Resolutions and Frame Rates
The PYXIS supports a range of resolutions and frame rates, from HD to 6K video and 24.6 MP still images. For high-frame-rate filming, the center of the sensor can be windowed to capture up to 100 fps at 212 x 1184 Super 16. Other recording options include 6K Open Gate 3:2 at 36 fps, 4832 x 4032 anamorphic at 24 fps, and 1920 x 1080 at 120 fps.

HDR Imaging and Dual-Native ISO
With a wide 13-stop dynamic range, the PYXIS preserves more detail in both shadows and highlights. This makes it possible to expose for indoor scenes while still capturing outdoor details through windows. An expanded color range and an included DaVinci Resolve Studio license give you full creative control over your footage. The dual-native ISO up to 25,600 ensures reduced noise, even in low light, while maintaining the sensor’s full dynamic range. ISO 400 is ideal for controlled lighting, and ISO 3200 is suited for low-light environments.

Customizable Design
The PYXIS comes with multiple mounting threads, allowing you to add accessories and configure your setup. The included side plate offers M4 threads, two 1/4"-20 threads, and one 3/8"-16 thread, ideal for mounting microphones, articulating arms, or other add-ons. An optional SSD plate features hook-and-loop straps to attach a USB-C drive or mobile device for direct recording or live streaming on the go. An additional Rosette plate is also available for further customization.

Integrated LCD Monitor and Controls
The built-in 4" LCD touchscreen with full HD resolution enables you to monitor and review footage directly on set. With a brightness of 1500 cd/m², the display is visible even under bright sunlight. On-screen overlays show key information like recording parameters, histograms, and frame guides. The camera also features onboard controls for ISO, white balance, and shutter, plus a scroll wheel for quick adjustments and three customizable function buttons to suit your workflow. These controls can be locked during shooting to prevent accidental changes.

Post-Production File Formats
The PYXIS records in Blackmagic RAW for detailed control over exposure, color, and image quality during post-production. H.264 proxy files are generated simultaneously for easy sharing through the Blackmagic Cloud, Ethernet, or 4G/5G mobile connections via USB-C. The recorded media is compatible with all major operating systems.

Recording Options
The camera includes two CFExpress Type-B card slots and a USB-C expansion port, allowing you to record directly to external drives or SSDs.

Built-In Live Streaming
The PYXIS supports live streaming through SRT and RTMP protocols, making it compatible with platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and X. For internal sharing, it works with an ATEM Streaming Bridge for wireless links to the studio.

Extensive Connectivity
The PYXIS is equipped with a front USB-C port for the Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF, a mini 3-pin XLR analog audio input with +48V Phantom power, and a rear 3.5mm microphone input and headphone jack. It also offers a 12G-SDI output for an external monitor, a Timecode/Reference input for syncing, and an RJ45 Ethernet connection for uploading footage or camera control. Power the PYXIS using a 2-pin DC connector or the included Sony BP-U battery plate. Wireless Bluetooth control is available via the Blackmagic Camera Control app from up to 30 feet away.
